Mother of Mercy
Mother of mercy, Keeper of Stars, hear us.
Lift the children from the rubble.
Fill their bellies.
Quite their cries.
Let the bombs grow silent.
Let the earth grow soft.
Let the hands that arm fall still.
Take my heart, my voice, my breath, whatever you need to make it stop.
Let love be louder than war.
Let peace come like rain.
Let it come now.
I don’t know if prayers reach anyone anymore. I don’t know if the stars are listening or if the earth remembers how to be soft. But I do know this, we cannot stop speaking love into the ruins.. If you feel helpless, if you feel like nothing you do matters, you are not alone. Even if all you can offer is the quiet ache in your chest, it is still something. If you want, you can borrow this prayer.
Say it out loud. Write it on your mirror. Let it remind you that even now, even here, love is still louder than war.
And someday, if enough of us keep saying it, maybe the world will finally listen.
